Coach

Susan Sotir specializes in customized endurance sport and triathlon coaching designed specifically for the athlete’s personal goals and ongoing life demands. She favors an evidence – informed coaching approach, integrating high quality scientific findings with tracking technology and individual athlete thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In addition, Sue serves as a as a consultant for elite athletes and coaches for developing and integrating mental skills into sport practice and performance and as a coach educator/mentor, helping coaches build the knowledge necessary to ground coaching decisions in physiological mechanisms of action, motor learning, biomechanics, and sport psychology.

Sue brings over 30 years of swim and triathlon coaching experience to BPC, working with novices to elite and professional athletes. She has been a member of the coaching staff for a number of USA Triathlon development camps: Junior Draft Legal Skills and Select Camps, Collegiate Draft Legal Triathlon Camp, Junior Elite Specialty Camp, and Junior Women’s High Performance Camp at the USA Olympic Training Center.

She has raced triathlons for as long as she has been coaching. She’s competed in sprint to Ironman distances, some years racing near the front, and some years not so close, but always with the belief that outside playing is better than on the couch, not playing.

Sue has her Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Springfield College, is a USA Triathlon Level III coach and holds several additional certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), Ironman U Coaching, and Precision Nutrition (Pn1).
